Solution: Unknown error code 24 during Installation

Posted on November 12, 2014 @ 9:28 pm

If you are trying to install DroidVPN and the following error message appears

"Unknown error code 24 during application install"

And then after the error message appears, the app was not installed and if you retry to install the app on your smartphone the error message will appear again and the download will still not start.

This normally happens when you flashed a new ROM and then the data/files of DroidVPN hasn't been wiped correctly or you tried to uninstall DroidVPN but the process was interrupted which corrupted the APK and files of DroidVPN.

To fix this problem you need to follow the steps below

  1. Goto Settings and then "Application Manager" -> "All".
  2. You should now see all the applications and apps installed on your device in alphabetical order. Search for Google Play Store open the app information and do the following:

Force stop -> Uninstall updates -> Clear data.

  3. Reboot your phone and try to install DroidVPN again.

If it is still giving you the same error code 24 again then do the steps below. (Note: Root access is needed)

  1. First you will need a file explorer that can access system files like this.
  2. Open your file explorer and navigate to /data/data
  3. Look for the directory named "com.aed.droidvpn" and delete it.
  4. Reboot your device and try to install from the Play Store again. The app should now install without any issues.
